With Liverpool star Sadio Mane reportedly linked to Bayern Munich, the Senegalese forward opened up about his immediate future, hinting at the advice he might heed.
Ahead of the Red’s UEFA Champions League final loss against Real Madrid last month, Mane revealed that he would make a decision on his next step after the showpiece. It was since reported that Mane decided on leaving the 19-time English League winners, with Bayern Munich said to be the likeliest destination.
That said, Mane shifted his focus to national team duties this week and starred in Senegal’s 3-1 win over Benin in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday night.
The Liverpool fan favourite netted a hat-trick and in turn, became Senegal’s all-time leading scorer with a tally of 31 goals in 86 appearances.
Before the encounter, Mane joked about listening to the Senegalese fans when it comes to making a decision on his future.
“Isn’t it between 60-70% of Senegalese that want me to leave Liverpool? I will do what they want,” Mane said as per the BBC.
“Don’t worry, it’s not far. Don’t be in a hurry, you’ll see it soon, there’s no problem.”
However, Mane later stated that he was just sharing a bit of humour regarding his comments and that he respects the Liverpool fanbase given that they had adopted him since his move to the club.
“I spoke yesterday while joking with a bit of humour and it was everywhere,” said Mane as quoted by Journalist Cissokho Sahel, according to the Daily Mail.
“I think we’ll stop there, Liverpool is a club I respect a lot. The fans adopted me since day one. Regarding the future, we’ll see.”
