Botswana will go head to head with Tunisia in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 3:00 pm CAT (SA, GMT+2).

This Group J game is set to take place at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in the second biggest city in Botswana, Francistown.

The Zebras suffered a 1-0 loss to Libya away in their opening Group J match which was played on Wednesday with Saleh Al Taher scoring the only goal of the match.

Botswana cannot afford to lose again when they face an in-form Tunisia side at home as their ambitions of qualifying for the AFCON finals for the second time would take another knock.

Meanwhile, Tunisia got off to a flying start in Group J as they thumped a hapless Equatorial Guinea side 4-0 at home on Thursday with Youssef Msakni scoring twice for the Carthage Eagles.

The 2004 African champions are currently placed at the top of the group standings and they will be confident of securing another win when they take on the Zebras.

The match between Botswana and Tunisia will be officiated by referee Mohamed Athoumani who hails from Comoros.

HEAD-TO-HEAD stats

This will be the seventh meeting between Botswana and Libya across all competitions.

Tunisia have the upper hand having won three games compared to Botswana’s two wins and one game ended in a stalemate.

Their last meeting ended in a 0-0 draw in a 2015 AFCON qualifier match in Botswana in November 2014.
