Artmiabo International Art Festival 2022 Debuts in Lagos

A recycled art festival in honour of highly regarded African Artist,
Bruce Onobrakpeya – the first of its kind is set for Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1 in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The festival, codenamed ArtMiabo International Art Festival (AMIAF) 2022, will showcase an array of performances, photography, video art, painting, installation and sculpture.

Featuring at the event, which is being organised by South Africa-based Artmiabo PTY, Vandyke Sports, JcDecaux, Multichoice Nigeria, with This Is Lagos as media partner, are works of 24 artists from Africa and Europe, with gallery representation from France and South Africa.

Works of artists such as Bruce Onobrakpeya, Yetunde Ojatula, Adeola Balogun, Segun Okewumi, Oladipupo Adesina, Yusuf Durodola, John Onobrakpeya, Tamaraemi Larry, Olufunke Esekhalu Ojukwu, Adebisi, Muni King-Keazor, and Miabo Enyadike will be on display
at the venue – Ebonylife Place, 1637 Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island.

The Art Room Gallery will also showcase expressions from South African creative genuises like Lerato Mutau, Neil Neuwoudt, Robin Field, Phumzile Buthelezi, and Thabo Motseki; International Art Caravan representing Clement Maduako Nwafor, Willem Vermeer, Judah Jubrin,Frank N’Goran, and Iwa Kruczkowska-Król.

This maiden edition, titled “Remake the World”, whets the stone ahead of Bruce Onobrakpeya’s much anticipated 90th birthday. It will be curated by a Netherland-based curator, Willem Vemeer.

Miabo Enyadike, Founder/CEO of ArtMiabo explains: “Recycling, re-purposing, up-cycling, call it what you want, is our new reality and it sends out a message that we can remake our environment with the disposable and renew our minds on how art plays a major role in that space.”

Apart from enjoying free art marketing workshops by industry experts, attendees will be regaled with music by Albert Ozurumba ‘Pacino Royal’.
